Beauty and the Beads!

I had to share what I think might be every jewelry designer and beader’s dream.

I had come home from Tucson after spending five days stimulating the economy and carried all my treasures in the house. The beads were covered up in a variety of bags , so I almost forgot what I had bought during the beginning of the week. As I always do, I haul it all into the family room to sit on the floor and share it with my husband. So there I sat, pulling each ‘goody’ out of it’s hiding place, so I can revel in it once again.

I proceeded to label each bag and strand so I wouldn’t forget what it was, where I bought it,and how much I spent. I had it spread out all over the carpet as I worked on it and shared them with my husband.

It stayed that way for two more days as my studio area was a disaster and needed organizing before I put it all away. A worker was coming to the house to work , so my husband insisted I pick it all up so no one would step on it. Instead of taking it to the studio, I decided to lay it on the guest bedroom bed. I arranged it beautifully by color hues and boy did that generate a lot of creative juices flowing. A couple days came and went and there they lay on the bed. For some reason, when Arizona gets a full moon, it just bathes the desert in bright light. A person could actually walk around at midnight without a flashlight and get by very well. But it also seems to disrupt my sleep too and I feel wide awake at 2:00 AM. So there I am tossing and turning to the rhythm of my husband snoring. All of a sudden I couldn’t take it, so off to the spare bedroom I go with pillow in hand. But there’s a problem, I just remembered! Beads galore cover the bed. Not to worry, I say to myself. Just slide it all to one side and slip discreetly under the covers, clinging to the edge of the bed, so as to not disturb the treasures. When I awake I really had a big smile on my face and a giggle in my throat.

I laughed out loud! What a glorious way to awake, to be surrounded by colorful, glistening elements of creativity. I just know every beader, stringer, and jewelry designer would feel the same as I did. Till next time… Safe soldering, boldly bead and serendipitous stringing!
